Its amazing to see the Energy companies taking so much interest in wind power coz its high time now. I just hope that similar gigantic steps are also taken for geothermal and ocean thermal energies... mere earth earth days won't help, there is more need to manufacture than to conserve as world's population is going to increase not remain dynamically static.

The machine’s tower is a floating pole filled with ballast beneath the ocean’s surface. This gives the world’s largest wind turbine a low center of gravity, which prevents tipping. The generator is anchored to the sea floor with a single pipe and a suction anchor...... :)

Good to see that innovation is still going ahead. People complained a lot when wind farms were initially built on land, but with deep water use, it is out of sight, out of mind

Great! At least people are doing something about saving the earth by reducing pollution, let them do more, left and right, fill up the place with them, save a few oil barrels.

It sounds like an interesting idea. I can picture numerous wind turbines in the ocean, out beyond where they would bother anyone. What about currents and hurricanes? How does the power get to the shore?

I see how this would be the future of how we obtain energy. The problem is ensuring that the company that owns each of these can effectively draw the power gained to their company stockpiles so they can transfer the power to the consumer. Inevitably each consumer will have the opportunity to have their own alternative power sources to aid in drawing power to these energy corps. Hopefully it will lower the costs of energy across the board.
