Arctic Ice Melting Faster Than Expected

(Washington, DC) Today SmartPower issued a statement reminding mainstream America that the easiest way to stem the catastrophic tide of global warming was to increase our use of clean energy and increase our use of energy efficiency products and practices.
That statement included reference to the dire prediction of animals drowning being just one of the possible consequences of the melting of the Arctic sea ice, which is occurring much more rapidly than previously predicted. The statement was in response to a recently completed National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), on the study of Artic sea ice published it on September 8th.
“How many of these dire predictions can we afford to ignore?” asked Brian F.Keane, President of SmartPower. “This report is yet another in a series of scientifically factual studies that once again serve as an important call to action.”
“It is very simply. We must embrace clean energy and energy efficiency, and make it a part of our everyday lives,” continued Keane concluded. “Using clean, renewable energy and becoming more energy efficient are two ways that every American can slow the real and tangible threat of global warming.
By the year 2050, these scientists have predicted that the Artic ice cap will have melted by 40 percent and that this will bring drastic change to all life forms living in that area. NOAA Oceanographer James Overland stated, “This will have a profound effect on the animals that use sea ice all the time, including walrus, polar bears and ringed seals. You will actually have a change in the whole ecosystem.”
