I (too) am seeking a place to purchase a recline-bike, the same (ergonomics) as a regular exercise bike, which has the converter, battery, etc. built-in, and donning an outlet, so I can plug my appliances directly into it. Thanks so much for any worthwhile lead.

My school also ordered a pedal-a-watt from convergence technologies in February 2010 and it never arrived. They gave us NUMEROUS shipping dates that kept getting pushed back and pushed back. I hope that we get our requested refund. I do NOT recommend them — and now I am on a search to find the products elsewhere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve had experience using this exact type of machine. It has excited a lot of people on our college campus especially the triathletes. Only thing is that out of the three that were purchased none work after having them for about three months.

I’ve seen this about 25 year ago on television when I was a kid. They showed an operating theater light in a developing country. The conclusion was that ordinary bicycle dynamo’s were the most effective

Don’t buy one of these from Convergence Technologies – I sent my money back in September 09 and it has not arrived yet. Enquiries and requests for some customer service are fobbed off or ignored. AVOID.

I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this before. I like the idea of using it to have kids earn their TV time. I have five grandchildren, usually all over at the house at the same time. Let’s see, 5 kids… each on for 30 minutes… they get some exercise and I get some electricity. I like it!

Ok for educational purposes but actually generate power? A person in good shape can, peddling vigorously, generate about 200 watts. Peddling for 5 hours will generate 1-kilowatt hour of electricity at best. Even here in Hawaii that’s only worth about 25 cents.

O’boy! that comes out to $0.05 per hour.

hello. Aniel, these ARE very simple to build if you are so inclined. they are good quality magnets spinning in a hub. Schmidt makes one of the best dyno hubs on the market. However, this company has the hub assembled to an easy docking frame, sturdily built to hold the bicycle and not damage the dyno. they have been improving this model over the past ten years. it would be worth the price to purchase, as you are paying yourself back with each pedal you take.

I’m interested to know where I can purchase one of these.

I’m involved with the CubScouts and am working on an alternative energy project to teach my kids awareness of their impact on the environment. I recently did a solar workshop. This would be a perfect way to show a different aspect.
