GreenJet: An Automated Sailing Yacht

Posted in Energy Inventions | Future Technology | Transportation

GreenJet Yacht We all are waiting for a miracle to happen that can effortlessly replace the fossil fuel and we don’t even feel the change over and go on with our lives as usual. These kinds of transitions have happened as is the case with iron and wood. Many things made of iron and wood got quietly replaced by plastic and the transition was quiet smooth. When the Iron Age got converted to plastic age, we never realized. But the same thing doesn’t seem to be happening with fossil fuel. So the current strategy followed by environment conscious people is, replace fossil fuels in bits and pieces or rather take baby steps till something big and wonderful happens. We are hearing about ecological homes, electric cars, solar energy powered bus stops etc. Now we are hearing about the green jet yacht meeting the eco-friendly green standard. The Green Jet yacht is designed by Erik Sifrer. This Green Jet yacht is 187 foot long and is powered by both wind and hydrogen. The fat cats can flout their eco friendly possession without the guilt of the haves.

Erik Sifrer wants to make a green statement with his jet yacht. The operational concept of the sailyacht is similar to a motoryacht. Erik Sifrer installed two automated Aero-sail systems to harness the wind power blowing over the water. Aero-sails are directed by hydraulic motors and proceed as the main propulsion system for the Green Jet. The hydraulic motors are designed to pull the sails to full height in 30-40 seconds. These Aero-sail systems can be controlled by a touch screen! This system works in synchronization with an onboard computer. Together they will define the best position of the sail for maximum propulsion and thus enable the Green Jet to minimize the use of its twin 950 Kilowatt engines. The automated sail system reduces the time of the crew on sails and they can concentrate more on serving the guests.

The green beauty known as Green Jet will not be some plain Jane in comparison to its counterparts. Yachts are bought to impress people around you with their luxury, beauty and grandeur. The Green Yacht will not fail on these counts. The deck has a pool right in its middle. The pool will act as a divider that will separate the yacht’s owner and the crew. The pool also boasts of a Jacuzzi and the yacht’s interiors are done up luxuriously. As far as the interior decoration is concerned it is futuristic and can be customized. So this yacht can bear the burden of its owner’s whims and fancies. The sales light up at night to transform the yacht deck into a dance floor. On the whole, the Green Jet embodies ultimate luxury with plenty of planet friendly bits that make it one very green yacht.

Philippe COusteau’s turbosails that power Calypso II have done far more than this overengineered power system for better than twenty years.
