Airlines don't care about hi tech or fancy new designs. They need to satisfy customers. While Boeing has a good track record of listening to customers, none of the other groups listed has a good track record in that department. And since the customer for this is NASA, we should expect something that meets NASA requirements but is useless in the commercial airline business.
